Time for work! The thought made her groan, because no matter how much she loved the water, she was rather self-conscious, and she had the job of a lifeguard. And as a pizza deliverer person at nights, but during the day it was swimsuit and save the kids time. But oh well - one had to earn a living somehow, right? So, Kenzie woke herself up and threw on a pair of sweats with a matching sweatshirt, into her car and out to the rec centre to change into her green swimsuit. It was a two-piece, because who really wears one pieces? It was green, as stated before, not dark and not limey, somewhere in the middle, a light shade of green with black outlines around the edges. Her hair was done up not quite in a ponytail, higher ish, more put up, so just in case if she had to dive in her hair wouldn't catch her in the face so she couldn't see. Hah, that would be hell. Trying to save a kid with a mop of dark hair stuck in your face.
She held a white towel, and walked over to chair, tossing it on the side of it. It was then she noticed the other boy in a chair. Lifeguard, eh? Mackenzie smiled, and watching the kids closely, walked around to the other side of the pool. True, she probably shouldn't go over to talk to him in case of them decided to drown, but what could you do? She was bored, he looked bored and well, so far the kids weren't in a life or death situation. When she got to the other side, she smiled at him, and waved. ''Hey!'' Kenz called up to him, leaning against the side of his chair, her arms draped over one of the bars that made up the legs of the chair. ''You wanna come down?'' She asked, turning her head to the kids. Of course, it would be a teensy bit harder to see the kids at the other side, but it would be easier to talk, right?

She hadn't quite realized it was the same guy from the pub last night, but he was farther up in a chair, so that was excused, right? Even so, his first comment made her smile and when he came down she blinked. ''Wait, I saw you last night, at the pub.. Oh, shit, I forget your name..'' Kenzie cursed herself for forgetting. How could she do that? She needed to remember the people here in Ashford! Otherwise she'd seem ignorant and .. stupid or something. And she definitely didn't want to seem like that. Kenzie bit her lip, and drummed her fingers on the chair. ''Something.. with a T?'' She asked, her eyes hopeful and her smile rather pathetic now. ''Damnit.'' She wrinkled her nose. ''I'm sorry, I'm horrible at remembering names.'' Mackenzie said, keeping herself from banging her head against the lifeguard's chair.
It was now she took the time to look over him, leaning against the chair rather than wanting to hit herself against it. One of the first things she noticed was his boxers and his trunks and she stifled a giggle, her hand now over her mouth, but her eyes glittering in a happy way, not like she was poking fun at him or anything. Slowly, she covered the rest of his body. As far as his body structure went, he was rather skinny. But she ignored that for now and looked over his face. His hair was in his eyes and it almost looked like he had just gotten out of bed, and that was cute.
''Hella bored.'' Kenzie said with a sigh. These kids weren't doing anything but splashing each other and so far she hadn't had to save anybody, and her shift wasn't over for quite awhile. So, so far yes, she was bored. ''The kids seem to be fine, so that leaves us with nothing to do..'' To show exaggeration, she faked a yawn and then smiled. Maybe this job wouldn't be all that bad, though, considering she had him here as well.

Tucker smiled to himself as she struggled to remember his name. It wasn't a very common name that guys had all the time, so he didn't exactly blame her. Maybe he hadn't left a good impression anyways. Sometimes people could take his friendliness as a bad thing. Although, this didn't strike him as quite the person.
"Its Tucker. And you're um, Mackenzie, right?"
Tucker was ok with names, as seeing as he'd only really met two people here already, they weren't really hard to remember. Ashley and Mackenzie. Easy enough. He'd probably have the whole town memorized soon, seeing as there was a population of about ten. Tucker just hoped this place ended up being fun. If it wasn't fun then he was definately not going to be staying here very long.
"Well, we do have a huge pool here.."
Tucker suggests. He though swimming was a pretty ok thing to do and it seemed espically good today. It was way more fun to actually swim than to watch other people swim. Tucker honestly didn't even care if he got fired on his first day for not watching the little kids. There were plenty of other places in the town to work.

[Aww, i'm sorry ): I never really use it, so it doesn't bug me much.. and I don't mind the misspellings, as long as I can tell what you mean and so far i can :3]
''Ahh, Tucker. And yeah, Mackenzie. But you can call me whatever you want, I know sometimes my name's long.. ish. So you know, whatever.'' She smiled, turning her gaze from him to the kids. Still doing nothing but splashing. No drowning, no screaming. God were they boring! Swim, splash, repeat. Swim, splash, repeat. Almost like her shower routine. Lather, rinse and repeat. And that was as boring as boring could get. With a sigh, she turned back to Tucker. Why had she ever taken this job?
''Yes, I suppose we do.'' Then she eyed his checkered boxes and giggled. ''Of course, you don't want to go swimming with your boxers on, do you?'' Kenzie asked him, raising her gaze to his face. ''And I suppose the worst that could happen was getting fired, and if we're in the water it will be easier to save the kids.. when and if they decide to drown. So i'm up for it.'' Swimming, yay! And she was all ready, bathing suit on and a towel at the other side of the pool. She had no real shoes, just her tennis that she wore here, but it wasn't like she was going to actually run across the place in her barefeet. Unless, of course, she wanted to break something, but she wasn't exactly that stupid. But of course, she was that klutzy.

Tucker laughs as she mentions his boxers. He hadn't figured people would actually comment on them, but he really didn't mind. It didn't embarass him or anything because he wasn't easily embarassed. Actually, he never really got embarassed because he always laughed at himself when he messed up. It was easier to be like that than to get all worked up when people laughed at him.
"I think my boxers can stand getting a little wet."
Tucker says with a chuckle. He'd had worse things happen to his boxers than getting wet, but we won't get into that right now. Eyeing the water in the deep end, Tucker smiles mischeviously to himself. He makes a quick glance over at Mackenzie and then looks back to the water. Tucker took off at a run towards the deep end and launched himself at the water.
"Cannonball!
Tucker yells goofily. There was the outgoing Tucker that people usually liked. After coming back up to the surface of the pool, Tucker turned to face Mackenzie. He treaded water, trying to keep himself up in the deep water. It had to be at least eight feet. Usually Tucker could touch the bottom of the pool, but not here.
"You gonna get in or just stand there?"

His comment made her laugh and she smiled, though she was shaking her head. She pushed herself away from the chair and walked slowly to the edge, and watched as he launched himself into the air, into the water, and a big splash. The water hit her and she laughed, walking closer to the edge and sat down, her legs in the water. Ah, cold! ''Okay, I'm comin', I'm coming.'' Her nose wrinkled, but she slid in anyways, wading farther out until she got to where he was, and where she definitely couldn't touch. But it wasn't like she minded, she could swim. Ever since she was little she loved the water and took to it like a fish. In the water, she was a lot less of a klutz than on land, another reason she loved swimming.
What bugged her at the moment was her hair. The bottom half was wet, the top wasn't. So she took a deep breath and let herself sink to wet it all before pushing back up and smoothing it all out. ''Pet peeve, having half wet and half dry hair. And touching dry hair with wet hands..'' Kenzie laughed and shrugged as best as she could, kicking lightly to keep herself above the water. The last thing she wanted to do was drown herself trying to talk to Tucker. What a lifeguard she would be if that happened. Pft, if she lived she'd get fired for not even being able to save herself. Oh, but wait, that couldn't happen could it? Tucker was there. Surely he would help.. right?
''Do the kids get breaks here? Y'know like, forty five minues in, fifteen out and then back in? Some places do, I wasn't sure if Ashford does..'' Maybe he would know. And if he didn't, well, she'd blow her whistle and call them out anyways. The kids didn't need to be in super long, they would get tired and of course not want to come out, and that would end in Tucker and Mackenzie saving the idiots. So, maybe she should just let them go? They might get paid extra for saving them.. Haha. No, she wouldn't risk any of that. It wasn't guaranteed they'd get there in time and then they'd both be fired for letting the kid drown.

Tucker laughs at Kenzie's explination for going underwater. She was totally random, but Tucker liked that. Random people could be totally fun which he loved in a person. If someone wasn't fun then they weren't even worth his time. That probably sounded really concieted, but Tucker knew he could find the fun in anyone besides someone who refused to be fun, so it basically meant he liked just about anyone.
Tucker had talked to the boss when he'd gotten here, but couldn't exactly remember what she said. Something about blowing the whistles if someone was drowning, which he already knew. There'd been something about a break, but he wasn't exactly sure. They could probably have a break for an haour if they really wanted to and no one would notice. Well, no one besides the little splashing kids. And what were they going to do? Cry to their mommies?
"Yeah, I think there is a break, but I don't really remember how long it is. I guess however long we want it to be."
Tucker says with a mischeious grin. Making trouble was his speciality and he wasn't going to stop just because he had a job now.

''Hmm. Well, ten minute break every fifty minutes or something? I donno. How long've they been in?'' She asked him, her head turning from Tucker to watch the kids. This was quite a sucky conversation at the moment, but mostly because she had to keep breaking contact with him to make sure the children didn't drown themselves. But, as a lifeguard, that was her job and she had signed up for it herself, so it couldn't be anybody's fault but hers, right? Even so, sometimes she wondered what she was thinking when she had applied for the position. Sure, she loved the water, but still.
''So, Tucker. I know you work here and down at the Pub, is there anywhere else I might run into you?'' She asked with a smile. She herself only had two jobs, one for days here as a Lifeguard and one for nights at the Pizza Xpress as a deliverer. She would probably have to get another job soon though, because she had to keep up living at the flat she had. (the one i will be signing up for in a minute >>'') And the last thing she wanted to have happen was to get kicked out and have to live out on the streets because she couldn't pay her rent. But that wouldn't happen anytime soon. Or, so she hoped. ''The only other place I work at is Pizza Xpress on nights, delivering pizzas. But I think I need to get another job..''
Kenz turned her gaze back to Tucker, still smiling. ''So, are we just gonna float around and talk?'' She looked around. Looked like it. She wasn't too sure what all Tucker had done in pools, but mostly she played Marco Polo with kids, or else she was just swimming for leisure by hereslf. Occasionally she would race and if there was a diving board up she'd dive, but only when she felt like it.
(ooc; do you think there'd be a water slide or a diving board or something here?)

[Oooh. I bet there would be. And if not, we can still make one. ]
"Well, i've been here for a few hours now and they've been in the whole time."
Tucker says, shooting a glance over at the kids. Still splashing around and being boring. How long could they keep that up? When he was a kid he was doing much cooler stuff than that at the pool. Kids now days .. Definately dull.
Tucker would have to make a mental note t oorder himself some pizza now so he could see Kenzie in a work uniform. That would be pretty amussing, but Tucker was just a loser like that sometimes. His job at the casino was definately not very interesting and he hated the uniform, but he'd get by. He'd met that girl Tinsely anways, so maybe he could just have friends at all of his jobs.
"On the weekend I work as a janitor for the casino. And I for one would not recomend it for a job choice. I get to wear a tacky red jumpsuit. Definately not my style."
Tucker glanced around the pool, wondering what else there was. For the first time he noticed a diving board off to the side. Now that would be way more fun than watching kids and floating around. Tucker points at it, a cheesy grin on his face.
"We could always go off the board."

''Hmm, think we should call them out, then?'' She sure thought so. So without waiting for his answer, she turned and swam back to her side of the pool and pulled herself up to sit on the side, taking her whistle and blowing it. ''C'mon, kids, time for a break. Out, out.'' Kenzie put the whistle back and moved her hands towards the sides of the pool. shaking her head at the moaning and groaning kids. When they were all out, she slid back in and back out to where Tucker was. Just fifteen minutes, they'd be fine. And as a lifeguard, she was allowed in the pool whenever she wanted to be.
''Awww. I've got to wear a white sort of one with a baseball cap.'' She said with a smile, trying to imagine Tucker in a red jumpsuit somewhat like her own, cleaning up trash and crap down at the casino. That would be something to see. He didn't exactly strike her as the clean up kind of guy, more like the.. make the mess kind of guy? Tucker just seemed to have a wilder personality.
''That we could.'' Kenzie said with a grin to match his. She ducked underwater and swam towards it, coming up for air only. As a kid she loved to do things under the water, which was why she more often swam under than above. It was quicker for her, too, she usually ended up where she wanted quicker. When she reached the board, she pulled herself up and waited for Tucker. ''You first!''
