Lynn Holmes

Light foosteps trill silently into the night as I walk the abandoned park, the moonlight shining down above me. Beams of light sprung onto my features, making my ebony eyes sparkle with intensity. I glanced back down, optics following the small pebble I kicked nonchalantly across the cobblestone pathway. I wrapped my arms around myself as a light breeze whispered through the park, tickling my cheeks with its playful fingers. My wavy hair was up in a slightly volumous pony tail, and I was sporting the unsual ensemble of sweat pants and a hoodie back from my highschool. On the front of the blue hoodie it said "East Lake Highschool" and under it was a blue eagle. On the back it had the names of everyone from senior class, Tommy and I included.
I couldnt place the true reason I was out so late, but I just had to come out and think. I might be scared of this new place, of the people. I have always had Tommy to protect me, even when we went our separate ways. But now, who could I trust? Who would help me?
Help?
I dont need it, I know I dont. I grew up alone, I can stay alone. I just have to make myself stronger..

Lynn Holmes

A cool voice looms over towards my ears, and I raise my head cautiously as I realize the voice is from a male. Piercing green eyes locked with the man, and I took a small breath before I stuck my hands in my hoodie pockets shyly, breathing out silently. Hi. The light trill of the wind made a soft sound as it brushed through the leaves of the mighty oaks that served as decore in the park. The wind brushed some of the hair in my ponytail onto my shoulders, and I reached up and began to curl the dark brown locks in my fingers. I was nervous, to be honest. We were alone, and I didnt know anything of this man.
I didnt step close to him, I didnt smile. Nothing of my demeanor was welcoming. Yet my eyes, they seemed slightly curious. Alert, in a way. Im Lynn. I offered my name, but it was about as much as he would get out of me. My hand fingered my cell phone in my hoodie pocket, the coldness of the metal stinging my hand.

Dylan held his jacket close to his body as he walked along the cobblestone path which led all the way around the huge park. He kicked along a small loose pebble, watching it as it bounced over the path before it bounced off into the green grass beside the pathway. Small droplets of dew that had settled on the grass blades flicked up through the cool night air. The wind whistled loudly, picking up leaves and brushing them short distances across the path. He looked up to see a girl along the same path as him, heading his direction.

"Hey"

Dylan called out as he got closer to her. He shoved his hands in the pockets of his jacket.

"I'm Dylan"

He replied, wondering why she was out here at this time of night.

He nodded as his eyes flicked over her. She had a slightly nervous appearance, figures. He was a complete stranger and had just started talking to her. Most people would have politely nodded as they met eyes with a stranger.

"Nice to meet you, Lynn"

He replied, sort of smiling. He didn't want to appear as s sleazy guy, so he kept any conversation to basics.

"What are you doing out on a night like this?"

Dylan asked, trying not to make it sound too personal. After all, what was he doing out here himself? It was a stupid question for him to ask but he was only trying to make conversation. If she didn't want to talk that would be fine. The two would just continue and go their separate ways.

Dylan seemed to second guess himself as he glanced over at me, intense orbs flickering over my eyes. I could tell he was trying to sound kind, and that mere fact alone slightly thawed the inner ice that blocked anyone from getting trueley close to me. The fact that he was putting an effort into it helped, but didnt suddenly put him in my good graces.
He spoke, and a smile came upon his features. His voice was cool and relaxed. I let out a breath I didnt even realize I had been holding, and the silent night seemed to whisper secrets into my ears. I smiled at his statement, bright green eyes flickering with slight intrest when he asked me what I was doing out here. Hmm, I have nobody to talk to and I guess I was helping the trees would fix things? Ha. Not really. I honestly didnt know what I was doing out here, I just knew that I needed to get myself in check. I needed to adapt. Just thinking. Its quiet out here. My soft voice flowed from my lips like a soft song, and my eyes were key with my words. I glanced back up into the man's eyes before I curled the locks of my dark brown hair once more. It suddenly occurred to me that I had bareley any makeup on, and my hair was probably a mess. God.
How about you? Slight curious? No. But talking to someone was making me relax a little. Dont get me wrong, Fii Fii and Tommy were excellent sources of conversation, but it was nice to meet someone new for a change.

Dylan spun to face the other way, and began walking beside Lynn, fairly close but not invading. He glanced over at her a few times as she spoke, her voice sounded soft and delicate. He ran his hand through his hair, wondering what had made him actually stop and talk to her. She looked somewhat interesting. Something about her made Dylan want to know her more, listen to her stories and share. When she answered his question he realised what had bought him out here tonight. Sure the park was quite popular, although at night its like a ghost town. It was an easy place to sort out all your problems, no confusion, no other people. It was simple. "Me? Well I was beginning to think the same thing." Dylan replied as he looked up towards the moon, gibbous. The tall lights around the park flickered, globes nearly done out. This park definetely was a whole new place at night, he had never really realised that before. He wondered why he didn't come out here more often at night.
